Couples counselling in Langley, Surrey and online

When the same arguments keep coming back, it’s easy to feel like you’re on opposite sides. Couples counselling gives you both a calmer space to slow things down, hear what’s underneath the conflict, and find your way back toward each other.

Sessions are a full 90 minutes, so there’s time to go deeper. We can work in Mandarin, English, or both — helpful when partners are more comfortable in different languages.

Couples often reach out when

  • Conversations turn into the same argument, or stop altogether
  • Trust has been hurt and you want to rebuild it
  • A new baby, a move or a new stage of life has changed everything
  • You disagree about parenting, money or extended family
  • In-law and family expectations are straining the relationship
  • You come from different cultures or speak different first languages
  • You feel more like roommates than partners

How we’ll work together

I draw on the Gottman Method — a research-based approach to couples therapy — along with Adlerian and humanistic ideas. We’ll look at the patterns you get caught in, build skills for communicating and repairing after conflict, and strengthen friendship and connection.

My role isn’t to decide who’s right. It’s to help both of you feel heard, and to make room for change that fits your relationship and your cultural context.

“We are not determined by our experiences, but are self-determined by the meaning we give them.”
— Alfred Adler

Why language matters

Some feelings are easier to say in your first language

For many people, it’s easier to talk about emotions, family roles, migration and identity in the language that feels most natural. You may be able to say things more fully when you don’t have to translate them first.

  • Speak in Mandarin, English, or move between both

  • Name family and cultural dynamics more naturally

  • Feel understood in the context of immigration and bicultural life

  • Skip the pressure of explaining every nuance from scratch

FAQ

Questions about couples counselling

What if my partner isn’t sure about counselling?

That’s very common. The free 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way for both of you to ask questions and see how it feels. You can also start on your own with individual sessions.

Do you take sides?

No. I’m there for the relationship, not for one partner. Both of you will have space to be heard.

We speak different first languages. Can you help?

Yes. We can move between Mandarin and English as needed so both partners can express themselves fully.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Start with a free, no-pressure 15-minute conversation — in Mandarin or English.
